To mark the start of the new liturgical year, on 14 September the Church of Saint Barbara in Vevey took part in a national celebration dedicated to all the saints who have left their mark on the history of Orthodoxy in ‘Helvetia’.
Established in 1983 by Bishop Ambroise (Cantacuzène), then serving in Vevey, this annual commemoration highlights ‘all the saints who have illuminated the Land of Helvetia.’ It recalls the deep connection between the Orthodox tradition and the spiritual and cultural heritage of the country.
Bringing together worshippers and members of the local community, this year’s celebration demonstrated the vibrant role of St. Barbara’s Church in the Vevey and Vaud landscape. The day was also an opportunity to highlight the historical and heritage significance of the church, which is currently undergoing restoration, and its commitment to preserving an iconic site in the heart of the city.
