The Altar Feast at St. Barbara’s Orthodox Church in Vevey was celebrated on 16-17 December 2025, honouring the historical figure St. Barbara.
The services were presided over by His Excellency Bishop Alexander, accompanied by Father Aviv Saliou-Diallo and Protodeacon Michel Vernaz, as well as several invited members of the clergy. This celebration brought together many faithful who came to honour the history and spiritual vocation of this church, which is emblematic of Vevey’s heritage.
On this occasion, the parish had the privilege of welcoming representatives from several Orthodox communities in Switzerland: Archimandrite Martin (from Caflisch) from the Holy Trinity Monastery in Dompierre, Fathers Dimitri Mottier (from the parish of Sion), Peter Sturm (Zurich), Antonio Barras (Geneva Cathedral) and Guennadiy Taran (Bern).
The festive Divine Liturgy was followed by a procession around the church and the celebrations concluded with a convivial meal.
