A meal with EVAM translators

The outbreak of war in Ukraine in 2022 threw a large number of migrants onto the roads, some of whom sought protection in Switzerland and settled in the canton of Vaud. Many of them have a very good level of French and spontaneously offered their services to the Etablissement vaudois d’accueil des migrants (EVAM) as translators for Ukrainian refugees. This solidarity has continued, the team has been strengthened and continues to support the Ukrainian community.

On 4 February this year, the parish of the Vevey Orthodox Church opened its doors to the EVAM team of translators, allowing them to organise and share a small meal. Outdoor grills, traditional dishes, and local wines were all on the menu, as was the fine weather. The team of translators also had the opportunity to visit the church with the help of a parishioner… It was a lovely, warm day!
